Day two: Damn, my ribs hurt...

I went to the gym last night after work with Sonny. The wonderful thing about living in a place like this: the gym is mostly empty. You have some muscle-bound jokers, who like to hog the free weights, sure. But for the most part, I've been free to try new things. I climbed on the treadmill for the 4th week in a row! Anyone who's ever worked out 24/7 Fitness in NY near Union Square, knows how hard it is to change in the locker room, let alone try a treadmill. So, I'm gaining speed on that thing, and having fun in the process. Still can't quite get over strangers making eye contact and cheerily saying "Hello". It creeps me out, a little. Usually, if someone in NY just makes eye contact, either you have to kill him, or he'll kill you. Hahaha. So, having someone initiate the whole thing and then smile and greet me...well, it's a mind fuck indeed. I intend to come back to NY, so I have to learn to switch this Midwestern Politeness off. And God help me if I ever, EVER utter the word "Pop" on the East coast. I'll be laughed all the way to California by everyone I know. *Soda Soda Soda*

Last night, I had a drink of blackberry brandy and Pepsi (soda, damnit!) and watched some Chappelle show with Sonny. He's so cute, getting immersed in the Hip Hop culture. He learned what a Badonkadonk means, that Boo is a term of endearment when I say it to him, and that crackheads have white lips and scratch their necks a lot. LMAO. Dave's show was hilarious. But I digress.

I wrote the very beginning of the new, nameless novel. I think it's coming along well. In order for things to go well, I must not exert too much "power" over the direction this thing is going. Otherwise, I'll keep flipping back to the beginning and trying to change things. I know that's not what this is about. It's about accomplishing something. I may post the first few pages here, as they develop. But I doubt I'll be writing on Blogspot every single day...

Unseasonably warm weather we're having, don't you agree?
